Dr. Derrick Nelson
Veterinarian
While attending Azle High School, I worked as a kennel worker at Eagle Mountain Veterinary Clinic. I earned a Bachelors degree in Animal Science in 1998 and a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2002; both from Texas A&M University – WHOOP! During my fourth year of veterinary school, I completed an externship in Kentucky working multi-million dollar thoroughbreds, including Kentucky Derby winners.
Since graduating from veterinary school, I have worked in various veterinary clinics in the DFW area. In April 2011, I bought Town and Country Veterinary Clinic from my friend and colleague, Dr. J. Mac Todd.
Between my parent’s cattle and chickens, my in-laws herd of Cocker Spaniels, my brother’s Golden Retriever, and my own animals, I stay pretty busy treating family pets. I have broken the news to them that I also need to treat client’s pets as well. They were shocked that I did not purchase this clinic just to treat their animals.
I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine, but my areas of special interest are surgery (especially using our state-of-the-art surgical laser), dermatology, and dentistry.
My wife, Tiffany is also an Aggie and a great mother to our two daughters Savannah and Charlotte.
I would like the privilege of serving your pet and your family.
